2 killed in a shooting and a third killed in a chaotic scene outside the Tennessee nightclub

Three people were killed and 14 were injured when several gunmen opened fire on a Tennessee nightclub in the early hours of Sunday, police said.

Two of the dead were shot dead and a third was killed when they were hit by a vehicle during a chaotic scene around 2:45 a.m. when cars crashed into people trying to flee the shooting, according to police .

“We’re trying to determine exactly what happened and what made it happen,” Chattanooga police chief Celeste Murphy said.

Two more people were injured when they were hit by cars, Murphy said. The rest of the wounded were hit by gunfire in the shooting.

Chattanooga Mayor Tim Kelly said any violence in his city is committed by a small group of people and will not be tolerated.

“Here’s my message to these people: We will persecute you non-stop with all the resources we have at our disposal. At least two Facebook users captured some of the shots and the resulting video panic, according to the Daily Mail.

Nearly 20 shots of the incident can be heard in a video posted by a Facebook user who was near the scene. The user, named Tabby Tab, was posing for a video when suddenly shots were fired and he protected himself in his car during the 11-second clip.

Another video posted by Facebook user Laquena Donegan shows moments before the shooting. A crowd of people were socializing on a street with cars speeding up their engines before the shots rang, the video showed.

A terrified woman can be heard praying for her to come out alive and calling for the family members she was with.

“Oh my God, he’s been shooting here,” a woman can be heard saying. “What’s wrong with you? My God, I’ve been shooting here. Oh, my God, God let me get home safely.”

Another video posted by Donegan shows viewers helping a man lying on the ground as a result, while others try to locate loved ones.

No arrests were made on Sunday.

The country has been rocked by gun violence in recent weeks, including the Uvalde school massacre, the mass shooting at a Buffalo supermarket and gunfire inside a medical center in Tulsa.
