Canadian Adam Hadwin leads the solo lead entering the second round of the 2022 U.S. Open. week, Hadwin’s 4-under 66 puts him at the forefront of his closest pursuers, one of whom is the 2011 U.S. Open. Champion Rory McIlroy.
After the successful defense of his Canadian RBC Open title, the Northern Irishman was almost flawless on the road to what was a bogey-free first round … through 17 holes. Once behind McIlroy is a trio of former USGA champions as Dustin Johnson, Justin Rose and Matt Fitzpatrick signed for 2-under 68 during the afternoon wave.
Despite a number of big names within Hadwin’s two, his main concern may be those currently sitting at 1 below. Jon Rahm, Justin Thomas, Collin Morikawa, Will Zalatoris and Max Homa were able to play with the red figures with their performances on Thursday. With 54 holes left to play, these game titans are sure to claim this championship.
