A 23-year-old man has disappeared after swimming in the Mersey River.
Haydn Griffiths was last seen swimming in New Brighton, Wirral, around 10:30 p.m., Tuesday.
A Merseyside police spokeswoman said she was wearing dark shorts and was trying to swim toward the wind turbines in the Derby Pool area.
He said: “A thorough search of the river was carried out last night and today the Maritime and Coast Guard Agency, but Haydn was not found and the search has now been suspended.
“Haydn is white, 6 feet and 1 inch tall, athletic in complexion, with short blond hair and blue eyes.”
Meanwhile, searches for a swimmer who was reported missing at sea near Clacton Pier in Essex on Tuesday have been reduced.
