The “Boat 55” of the Rio Vista Fire Department responds to a report of three 3 adults and 1 child in the water near the Three Mile Slough Bridge in the Sacramento Delta.

Three men are missing and presumed dead after trying to save an 8-year-old boy in the Sacramento Delta on Sunday afternoon, according to various media outlets.
The men were part of a group fishing near the Three Mile Slough Bridge near Rio Vista on the afternoon of July 3rd. When the men saw a child fighting in the water, five of them jumped to try to rescue them. After only two returned to shore, the Rio Vista Fire Department responded to “a report of three adults and a child in the water near the Three Mile Slough Bridge.”
The boy was successfully rescued, but the three men remain missing. The RVFD updated its report to say the incident “went into recovery”.

One of the men who returned to the coast, Juan Cabrera, told KCRA3 that he helped pull the boy safely to the coast. “That happened so fast, three people, my friends … and we come here all the time,” Cabrera said.
Relatives identified the three missing as Edwin Rivas, Edwin Pérez and Danilo Solorzano.
As holidaymakers pour into recreational areas of Northern California, a number of drownings have been reported in recent weeks. On Sunday, a St. Paul man died trying to rescue his son in Lake Berryessa, the second drowning in a week in the popular site of Napa County. On June 11, a man in the Bay Area drowned while tubing on Lake Tahoe.
