Julie Bishop’s young real estate developer David Panton has shared the details of how he broke up with the former foreign minister.
Former Foreign Minister Julie Bishop and her longtime boyfriend David Panton have separated.
NSW real estate developer David Panton told Mrs Bishop last Friday that the relationship was over, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.
The conversation took place at Macquarie St.’s Eastbank restaurant.
“I will focus on living in Manly and Melbourne in the foreseeable future,” Panton said in a statement to the newspaper.
“I wish Julie all the best in her ongoing stellar career.”
Ms Bishop, Curtin’s former Liberal member in WA, told The Daily Telegraph in 2020 that the couple was using FaceTime when they could not be seen due to pandemic border closures.
“We FaceTime. It’s not great, but it’s all you can do because he can’t get in here (WA) and I can’t go in without having to get an exemption,” he said at the time.
“It’s very difficult, but I know a lot of families have broken up that way. It’s a challenge.”
The couple left eight years ago.
