Victoria announces free flu shots for June

Victorians will be able to access free flu shots during the month of June, the state government has announced.

From June 1, all Victorians over the age of six months will be able to receive free flu shots at GP clinics and pharmacies.

Influenza cases in Victoria have risen more than 30 percent last week.

Several other states, including New South Wales, have already announced a free vaccine blitz for a month.

Previously, the flu vaccine was only free for certain high-risk groups, including pregnant women, people 65 and older, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

More to come.
