The crash report provides new details on the fatal crash on O Street

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – The crash report of a fatal crash on O Street on Sunday night provides additional details about the incident that killed two people and left 20 spectators injured.

LPD says 20-year-old Emily Siebenhor and 22-year-old Edith Hermosillo died in the collision that took place at 52nd Street and O around 10:46 p.m. Sunday.

According to police, a black Ford Taurus was traveling west on O Street when it crashed into a spinning white Toyota Corolla.

Police say Siebenhor was driving the Corolla and Hermosillo was a passenger in the vehicle.

The driver and sole occupant of the Ford, an 18-year-old man from Omaha, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

LPD says after the initial impact, both vehicles drove to the north sidewalk of O Street, west of No. 52 Street, hitting several people who were gathered for a cruise event. The Ford initially turned to the top and fixed two casualties. Spectators worked to keep the car away from the victims.

One of the spectators is currently in critical condition, while others suffered injuries that did not endanger his life.

According to a Lincoln police crash report, the Ford Taurus was traveling west on O Street between 56th and 52nd Streets when the traffic light turned yellow at the intersection of 52nd and O Street.

The report states that the vehicle continued through the traffic light and crashed into the Corolla trying to turn north on O Street.

A witness quoted in the crash report said they saw the Ford advancing about 100 MPH down O Street before the crash occurred.

According to the report, investigators believe the driver acted recklessly or aggressively and exceeded the speed limit.

In addition, the report states that investigators also believe that the drugs played a role in the accident and that the driver tested positive for marijuana. Alcohol is not suspected to have played a role, according to the accident report.

No summons was issued on Tuesday afternoon.
