A 13-year-old boy has died after swimming with other children on the Tawe River in Morriston

A 13-year-old boy has died after apparently having difficulty swimming on the River Tawe in Morriston, Swansea.

South Wales police say an extensive search was launched on the evening of Tuesday 24 May, which also involved the services of firefighters, ambulances and coastguards and the helicopter of the force after a report was received. that the children had been swimming in the river and a child had not been seen coming out of the water.

They said the teen was located about an hour later elsewhere on the river, but could not be resuscitated. An investigation has been opened into the circumstances of the incident and the family has the support of specialist agents. DC Wales’ Kristian Burt of the South Wales Police said: “At 4.55pm yesterday, Tuesday 24th May, a report was received that the children had been swimming in the River Tawe, Morriston, Swansea. A 13-year-old boy had gotten into trouble and was not seen leaving the river, and police, firefighters, ambulances, coastguards and a police helicopter have carried out an extensive search.

“The boy’s body was found in the river near Swansea Enterprise Park around 6pm and could not be resuscitated despite the efforts of the emergency services.
