Saskatchewan’s prime minister’s brother among those pardoned for a traffic offense

Saskatchewan Prime Minister Scott Moe has signed dozens of pardons for traffic offenders, including his own brother.

On May 19, the prime minister signed a council order granting clemency to about 30 people who were convicted of 37 crimes under the province’s Traffic Safety Act.

The order shows that Kris Moe, the prime minister’s brother, was one of the people pardoned after driving at an amber traffic light on January 23, 2021 in Prince Albert.

“Prime Minister Moe withdrew from consideration of this order in council in the cabinet,” Julie Leggott, the prime minister’s press secretary, said in a statement.

“Pardons are presented annually on the basis of the advice and recommendations of justice officials for the approval of the Lieutenant-Governor, which has been a long-standing practice in the province.”
