Salvador Ramos, 18, carried out the mass shooting at Robb Elementary School, Uvalde, Tuesday local time.
Ramos was assassinated by law enforcement in response, leaving a community faltering and renewed calls for gun control ringing through the United States.

May 17: Ramos buys an assault rifle shortly after age 18.
May 18: Ramos buys a quantity of ammunition.
May 20: Ramos buys a second assault rifle. Bullets and weapons were bought legally.
May 24, 11 a.m.: Ramos sent a message to a 15-year-old girl in Frankfurt, Germany, with whom he had been talking online since May 9.
He was upset because his grandmother was talking to AT&T about his phone.
Minutes later, he sent a message to the girl saying, “I just shot my grandmother in the head.”
“I’m going to shoot an elementary school right now.”
Her grandmother ran away from home and remains in the hospital.
Ramos got in the car and left.
11.30am: Ramos car accident near Robb Primary School. He comes out with a bulletproof vest and a rifle.
A school resources officer approaches, but fails to stop the 18-year-old.
11:32 a.m .: Ramos exchanges gunfire with police and enters Robb Elementary School, where hundreds of elementary students are enrolled.
He moves around the school until he finds a class full of students and sets them on fire.
11.43am: A school closure is announced. Law enforcement officers corner Ramos in the classroom and kill him.
12.17pm: The school district announces the shooting on social media.
12.23pm: Parents are asked to pick up their children.
13.06: Police report that the shooter was killed by officers who responded.
