Climate in Perth: Hail and floods hit the metropolitan area with more cold fronts to come

South Perth has been hit by heavy squalls and flash floods as a low-pressure system moves along the west coast.

On Friday afternoon, a storm devastated Rockingham and caused strong winds and heavy rains.

“The weather is heading west, so areas from Lancelin to Augusta may experience storms soon,” said Duty Forecaster Meteorological Bureau Luke Huntington.

The weight of the low-pressure system will move further south and is expected to reach Bunbury on Saturday morning.

Huntington said another cold front was expected to move on Sunday, with increased showers, storms and strong winds and gusts.

While rain is expected to ease slightly early next week, the BOM model suggests that winter is really here with stronger cold fronts on the horizon with the pattern of rain and cold fronts that they are expected to increase.
