One dead, one in critical condition after the ammonia leak from Mount Paul Industrial Park

BC Emergency Health Services provided these details:

One patient was taken to hospital in critical condition. Two patients were taken to hospital in stable condition. About six more patients in stable condition were evaluated at the scene.

Interior Health told CFJC today:

Interior Health can confirm that Royal Inland Hospital has made preparations to receive patients from an incident in Kamloops. We have no details about the incident itself, but at this time we have been told that approximately eight patients are being taken to hospital. We ask that people with non-urgent needs avoid going to the emergency department while we take care of this current situation.

Later Thursday afternoon, IH confirmed that the hospital had treated four patients, all of whom were discharged.

The cause of the leak is not yet clear.

In a post on social media, Kamloops City Council is urging the public to stay away from the Mount Paul Industrial Park area while authorities investigate and address the situation.

More to come.
