Bachelorette Cam Ayala suffers a leg amputation

“Bachelorette” contestant Cam Ayala underwent a leg amputation later this week, her latest post on social media revealed.

“Gotta lotta BROMENTUM with @ b.rapp #amputee #CAMputee #FAITHoverFEAR 🙏🏽✝️,” read the Instagram headline that accompanied a photo of Ayala in a hospital bed at Texas Medical Center, with much of the his right leg seemed to have been removed.

The reason for the procedure was lymphedema, a disease that Ayela, 33, has been suffering from for some time. The condition, according to the Mayo Clinic, is the result of the lymph vessels not draining the lymph nodes enough, resulting in a backup of fluid that causes swelling in the affected region of the body, usually the arms or legs.

The Texas native first appeared in season 15 of “The Bachelorette,” which premiered in 2019 and featured interior designer Hannah Brown as the program’s eligible single woman.

Because there was a very big target placed on my back among the men in the house. And about three weeks after the trip there, I decided to open up to the bachelorette party about my chronic disease, called lymphedema …

“When I opened up to her, some of the other guys at the mansion heard [it] I need to approach her after this conversation and basically accuse myself of having invented this story of medical sobs so that I could get what they called a “rose of pity.”

“And unfortunately the boys’ narrative was believed and they sent me home that night, ”he concluded.
