Liverpool put pressure on social media companies for tickets to the Champions League final

Liverpool’s victory over Villarreal in the UEFA Champions League semi-final caused a stir for tickets for the final, which will take place in Paris on Saturday 28 May.

As always, the official Liverpool ticket allocation of a meager 19,618 barely hurt the overwhelming demand from fans desperate to cheer on their team from the Stade de France.

With just a few days to go, resale sites still have thousands of tickets available, with the cheapest prices starting at £ 1,700. Similar figures have been seen in the previous two Champions League finals in which the Reds have been with Jurgen Klopp.

In an official statement, Liverpool have today pointed to social media sites where they claim that more than 50 accounts are “actively involved in the sale or offer to sell tickets online for the Champions League final”.

The Liverpool Football Club has said: “The Liverpool Football Club has asked social media companies to close more than 50 social media accounts and groups that it believes are actively involved in selling or offering to sell tickets for the Champions League final online.

“The club has also identified 13 fans who have offered their tickets for Saturday ‘s match against Real Madrid on sale online.

“These fans have had their tickets canceled, while their accounts are being investigated later, with the possibility of additional penalties.

“The move comes after a recent warning reminded fans that they only buy tickets from official sellers. The club received an allocation of 19,618 tickets for the match of all tickets at the Stade de France in Paris this weekend.

“Unfortunately, there has been an increase in the number of scammed fans, particularly online, for fake match ticket offers. If any fan is offered an online ticket, they should report it to LFC. here– ia Action fraud.

“Liverpool FC will not stand idly by watching people try to sell tickets they have been lucky enough to get through the ballot.”
