The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team announced on Thursday that it had been called in to investigate the shooting after the victim succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday.
The IHIT identified the victim as Michael Gordon Brown, 58, and said his death was “an isolated, non-random incident unrelated to gang activities.”
The Surrey RCMP was called to a house on the 13700 block of Grosvenor Road shortly before 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 21 for a report of gunfire.
When they arrived, officers found a male victim with serious injuries. He was taken to hospital.
IHIT said in a press release on Thursday that it was publishing the victim’s name “to advance the investigation and identify witnesses and associates.”
“We have accumulated a lot of information so far, but we are still looking for witnesses,” the sergeant said. David Lee, in the statement.
“We’re looking to talk to anyone who knows Mr. Brown’s activities.”
Investigators are asking anyone with a dashboard camera or surveillance video recorded between 5 and 11 a.m. in the area where the shooting occurred to contact them.
