Twitter Blue has finally started allowing Android subscribers to customize the app’s navigation bar. The feature, which was previously only available on iOS, lets you get rid of the space icon in the center of the navigation bar (and of course, delete some of the other tabs if you want, too).
With custom navigation, you can reduce the number of tabs shown to two or keep the five that appear by default, useful if you’re tired of swiping your finger on the Spaces tab just to access your direct messages and notifications. Twitter started testing the Spaces tab on iOS last year and launched the Android tab in May, which seemed to only give the most annoying users a reason to sign up for the $ 2.99 Blue subscription on more released last year.
The Spaces banner now displays more information, such as Themes. Twitter Blue subscribers on Android can now customize their navigation bars.
But Blue can’t save us from all the features that make the app fat. Twitter announced last week that it will start including more information in the banner showing active spaces at the top of your timeline. While there are no settings yet to completely disable this banner (neither for free subscribers nor for blue subscribers), it will now show who hosts the space, who shares a tweet in the space, as well as relevant topics.
