Jetstar’s “heartless” text six hours before flight from Perth to Bali leaves tourists in limbo

Jetstar passengers bound for Bali are calling the economic airline to be “heartless” after canceling a flight early in the morning via a text message at midnight.

A flight from Perth to Denpasar was supposed to take off at 6:50 a.m. Sunday before a midnight message citing “operational reasons” for the cancellation put summer escape plans in limbo. of 186 travelers from Western Australia.

Passengers say they have since had trouble booking again.

The next direct flight available from Perth is not scheduled until July 12, forcing families to unpack and miss the winter break.

The Summers family spoke to 9 News on Sunday and criticized the airline for its “discouraged” move.

“It’s been a long time, and I think that’s probably what has made it even worse,” said the mother of two, Lucy Summers.

“They are destroying people’s holidays.

“We work hard to go on this holiday and it’s heartless.”

The Summers family says they have $ 14,000 out of their pocket, and that the money spent on flights and accommodation is probably running out.

“It has a massive side effect. We can’t just re-book. It’s not as simple as that,” Summers added.

It has been more than three years since the last time small business owners took a trip abroad.

Jetstar’s cancellation message was also sent to 162 passengers in Bali, who were scheduled to fly home to Perth at 10.50am.
