A boy was allegedly let out on a canal after a serious collision in Melbourne.
Police are investigating a brutal collision in south-east Melbourne where a car allegedly fled the scene after sending a 13-year-old boy flying down the road.
Joseph Whaler was crossing the street on his scooter last Friday at around 4pm when he was hit by a car near the intersection of Chandler Road and Somerset Drive in Keysborough.
He had to spend the night in hospital after suffering scratches on his face, and doctors said he was lucky not to have any broken bones.
“When he hit me I fell right into the canal,” Joseph told 7News.
“Physically (I) couldn’t open my eyes and … I was just screaming for help.”
Joseph alleged that a small dark car indicated that he was deviating from it before driving straight and hitting him.
The driver allegedly stopped in the middle of the road and got out, but did nothing before getting back inside and taking off.
Joseph’s family had a direct message for the driver after he allegedly did nothing to help.
“I felt incredibly helpless because I was working in town,” her older brother Josh said.
“If the person out there has some kind of awareness, they (should) give in and face the music.”
