A 13-year-old boy was found dead in River Taff after a major search operation

The body of a 13-year-old boy has been found in the Taff River after a major search operation.

South Wales police have confirmed the boy’s death following a thorough search involving police, firefighters, ambulances, coastguards and a police helicopter.

Detective Abi Biddle said the boy had been with other children on the river near Forest Farm Road in Whitchurch, Cardiff, before disappearing shortly before 5 p.m.

“The missing 13-year-old was located in the river at around 5.45pm and, despite the efforts of the emergency services, could not be resuscitated,” Biddle said.

“The boy’s family has been informed and is receiving support at this time. “The coroner has been informed and the circumstances of the incident are being investigated.”
