A 20-year-old man from Winkler has died after the vehicle he was driving crashed into an overflow on Roland’s RM.
According to the Pembina Valley RCMP, officers were called to a crash on Highway 19 North around 5:15 p.m. Thursday. When they arrived, a vehicle was on the roof of the dump and submerged in water.
The RCMP said the local fire department pulled a man out of the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene and was the only person in the vehicle.
Investigators say the man was driving east on Highway 19 North when his vehicle entered a ditch at an angle, hit a dump in the dump and overturned.
The RCMP said the man was wearing a seat belt and that alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the crash.
The RCMP continues to investigate.
