A 24-year-old man from Sudbury has been accused of driving with speeding and speeding after a traffic stop at Bruce Mines, according to a press release issued by the East Algoma OPP.
The events took place on June 9.
The full text of the statement is as follows:
On June 9, 2022, shortly after 3:30 p.m., members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Eastern Algomach Detachment were conducting patrol duties in the town of Bruce Mines.
Police noticed a westbound vehicle traveling at high speed on Taylor Street and began a traffic stop. While the officer was talking to the driver, police determined that alcohol had been consumed. The driver was arrested and taken to the Tessalò detachment where further tests were carried out.
As a result, Noah Mitchell, 24, of Sudbury, was charged with:
- Impaired functioning: alcohol and drugs, contrary to section 320.14 (a) of the Penal Code (CC)
- Impaired functioning: blood alcohol concentration (more than 80), contrary to section 320.14 (1) (b) of the CC
- Speeding, contrary to Article 128 of the Traffic Act
Defendant is scheduled to appear in Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on July 7, 2022. The driver was issued a 90-day driver’s license (ADLS) suspension, the SUV was towed and confiscated for seven days.
