A 24-year-old man dies after being run over in Vancouver Sunday night

A 24-year-old man has died after being run over in Vancouver.

Police said the victim and a friend were crossing West 4th Avenue on Arbutus Street around 11:30 p.m. when he was hit by a newer gray sedan, which “appeared to be traveling at high speed.”

Police said the driver did not stop and the victim died at the scene.

The victim has not yet been identified.

The Vancouver Police Department’s collision investigation unit spent the night gathering evidence from the crime scene and investigators have spoken to several witnesses, police said. Anyone who has not yet submitted can contact the researchers immediately at 604-717-3012.

Investigators believe the vehicle was traveling east on 4th Avenue before the man was hit and are looking for a surveillance video or a video camera script of the area at the time of the incident.
