Police are offering a $ 250,000 reward for information about the 2017 death of an 81-year-old man in a deliberately lit parking lot fire.
John Flamish, who had been staying at a friend’s Parramatta unit, suffered smoke inhalation and collapsed. He was rushed to Westmead Hospital, but died shortly afterwards.

Homicide squad commander Detective Superintendent Danny Doherty announced the reward in the five years since his death, saying police were now re-examining all available evidence to find those responsible.
“Police have spoken to dozens of residents and other witnesses about the fire, which was determined to have been deliberately lit,” he said.
“Five months after the fire, police announced the CCTV vision and called for anyone with information to speak out. Today we are re-examining the entire CCTV vision and renewing our appeal to the public.
“The person or people involved in lighting this fire cost the lives of a dear father and friend, and it is time for them to take responsibility for their actions.”

Flamish’s daughter Jenny Clarke said her family would never surrender to those responsible for her death.
