A woman has died in hospital after a fatal collision between a van and a pedestrian this morning (June 24). The accident took place near Penryn on the A39 between the Treliever roundabout and the Kernick Road industrial estate at 9.35am.
The 33-year-old, who was from the local area, suffered fatal injuries and was taken to Derriford Hospital in a Cornwall air ambulance, where she later died. His closest relative has been informed.
The A39 was closed in both directions while forensic collision officers investigated the collision, but reopened around 4.20pm this afternoon. The driver of the van has stopped at the scene and is assisting officers with their inquiries.

Police are calling for witnesses to the incident or anyone with images from the dashboard to appear. They also thanked the citizens who attended the scene.
Devon and Cornwall police said in a statement: “Police investigating a deadly traffic collision near Penryn are asking for witnesses to appear. Officers received reports of a collision between a van Volkswagen and a pedestrian, on the A39 between Treliever Roundabout and Kernick Road Industrial Estate Penryn, around 9:35 a.m. today, Friday, June 24th.
“The pedestrian, a 33-year-old local woman, was fatally injured and was transported to Derriford Hospital by Cornwall Air Ambulance, where she later died. Her relatives have been informed and are being supported by the police. .
“The driver of the van stopped at the scene and is assisting officers with their inquiries. The A39 between the Kernick Road industrial estate and the Treliever roundabout was closed while forensic collision officers went investigated the collision, but reopened around 4:20 p.m.
“The officers of the specialized road police team want to thank the members of the public who attended the scene.
