Firefighters were able to control the fire before it could spread to nearby homes.

Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “The fire was caused by a small bonfire which got out of control and spread to nearby hedges and trees.

“We would like to remind everyone that in exceptionally dry and hot conditions even a small campfire can spread very quickly from a stray ember or dry vegetation.

“The [team] has had a number of fires spread by bonfires over the past week and I would urge the public to think about the dangers of having bonfires at this time, no matter how small.”
