A successful Calgary swimmer who won four medals for Canada at the 2011 Junior World Championships has been sentenced to four and a half years in prison for sexually assaulting a woman in 2018.
Chad Bobrosky, 29, burst into tears in a Calgary courtroom as he said goodbye to his family before being taken away by the sheriffs.
Judge Gord Wong said the sexual assault on the girl at Bobrosky’s Calgary apartment involved sadism and servitude, and that the repeated attacks were carried out with intent to injure.
The judge noted that Bobrosky also videotaped the meeting.
Wong said there were no mitigating circumstances that would allow him to reduce the sentence the Crown wanted.
The defense had asked for a sentence of three to three and a half years.
