A family have been left heartbroken after their bulldog was left in a conservatory during the heatwave.
Teddie, who was only 21 months old, was left with a dog sitter by owner Nikki Morton.
But the next day she got a phone call to say “your dog is dead”.
Nikki, 49, said: “I am angry and absolutely devastated because it was so avoidable.
“The conservatory was buzzing when we went there that day. It was 27°C outside and hotter in there.
Nikki left Teddie at Barry’s home in South Wales so he could get used to being there before a two-week holiday to Jamaica later this year.
She said: “I googled and Rover came up. It looked very legit and we found a singer who sounded like a really nice lady with five star reviews and everyone raving about her.
He got the phone call at 7.48 the next day and when he asked where Teddie had slept he was told “in the conservatory”.

Nikki said: “Why would you leave a dog in a glass box in extreme weather? I was crying and had to switch the phone off.
She said: “My dog was dead on the floor and I had thrown a padded blanket over it.” He was in almost complete rigor mortis. The smell was horrible.
“It’s an all-glass conservatory with no shutters. I’m hanging on to the thought that it didn’t suffer in the conservatory.
“My house feels empty and my heart feels empty. Everyone on our street knew him. He couldn’t walk down the street without someone bothering him. He loved running around the garden chasing tennis balls. He loved life and loved people .
‘The cat goes around the house looking for him because they were the best companions. He was a huge, huge part of our life. And he was a baby, he was at least 10 years older.
A Rover spokesman said they were investigating. They added: “We are removing the guard from our platform, preventing them from offering more pet care services through Rover.”
Vale of Glamorgan council said the person does not have a dog boarding license and police are investigating.
