A local news man faces deteriorating ATV charges after police flee

A 54-year-old man faces charges of deterioration after fleeing police on Monday.

Shortly before 8 p.m., police located an all-terrain vehicle in Chapel’s Cove where the driver was suspected of being drunk.

Police tried to pull the vehicle off-road, but the vehicle came out at high speed.

An agent moved into the operator’s residence and waited for him to return home. Another motorcyclist left him shortly after, where police arrested him.

He faces charges of fleeing police and impaired driving, having flown twice and a half the legal limit.

He was released to appear in court at a later date.
