A man accused of killing Johnstone and seriously injuring a woman

One man has been charged with killing another man and seriously injuring a woman.

A 40-year-old man, locally named Robbie McDowall, was pronounced dead Wednesday morning in Johnstone, Renfrewshire, and a 59-year-old woman was also found with serious injuries.

A 28-year-old man was arrested on Thursday, and now police confirm he has been charged.

He is due to appear in Paisley Sheriff Court on Saturday, June 4.

Family members have been paying tribute to Robbie since his death on Wednesday.

Her heartbroken cousin traveled to Facebook to pay tribute.

She said: “I can’t believe this is what happened to Robbie.

“You were the best and funniest person ever. You shouldn’t have ended up like you did.

“My mom and I and my sisters are devastated, but grateful for the time we spent with you. RIP because I love you xx.”

A friend commented, “I’m really sorry to hear that. Robbie was a brilliant boy, too. I’ve known him since elementary school.”
