Vancouver police have arrested a person in connection with a collision that killed a 24-year-old pedestrian Sunday night in Kitsilano.

“We asked for help to solve this crime, and after receiving important information from the public, VPD agents identified (a) a suspected driver and arrested him yesterday at his home in Vancouver for the fatal hit,” he said. sergeant. Steve Addison said in a statement Tuesday.
“We also arrested one of the driver’s relatives and we are investigating whether that person acted as an accomplice after the fatal collision.”
The pedestrian, a man, was walking near his home around 11:30 p.m. Sunday when he was hit and killed by a speeding vehicle near West 4th Avenue and Arbutus Street.
The driver took off, but a few spectators were left behind and tried to help the victim. Addison said witnesses provided valuable information to police.
He said the alleged 25-year-old driver and a 63-year-old relative were arrested without incident. No charges have been filed and the investigation is ongoing.
