A man arrested in the West Midlands for raping a girl at sea on Bournemouth Beach

A man has been arrested for allegedly raping a girl at sea on Bournemouth Beach. The 18-year-old has been arrested in the West Midlands.

Dorset Police ID Wayne Seymour said: “We have continued to support the victim and her family throughout this investigation, and they have been updated with this latest development.”

The assailant told the 15-year-old victim he was from Birmingham before raping her, allegedly. A call was first aired on BBC One’s Crimewatch Live in September 2021.

Detectives from the Dorset Police Crimes Investigation Team (MCIT) have been investigating the report that a 15-year-old girl was raped at sea near the Oceanarium around 4pm on Sunday July 18, 2021.

Detective Wayne Seymour said earlier: “In this case, we owe it to the victim to continue exploring all available lines of investigation and I am grateful to Crimewatch Live for helping us share our call again. The investigative work so far it indicates that the suspect is believed to be from the West Midlands area and we continue to work with the National Crime Agency, the West Midlands Police and other associated agencies. “

The police officer added: “We are keeping the victim and her family up to date with our investigation and we are doing our best to support them.” The 18-year-old has been reportedly rescued by police.
