A 30-year-old man has died after a terror accident that left the M61 closed most of the day. The driver of the Audi was taken to hospital after being hit near Kearsley in Bolton on Friday at 5.25am, but unfortunately he was later pronounced dead.
Police are now asking for information or a camera script of the crash. No other vehicles were involved.
A Greater Manchester police spokesman said: “Officers from our Serious Collision Investigation Unit are requesting information following a fatal collision in Bolton this morning. We were called to the M61 at heading north to report that an Audi A5 had been involved in a collision approximately 5.25 p.m.

“Emergency services attended and treated a man in his 30s at the scene but unfortunately he was later pronounced dead at the hospital.” The M61 was shut down for several hours while an investigation was conducted. It reopened around 3 p.m.
Earlier, a spokesman for the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: “At around 5.30am on Friday 27 May, fire crews were called to report a traffic collision on the M61 Near Kearsley, three fire engines from Farnworth, Whitefield and Broughton Stations, as well as the Ashton Rescue Unit, rushed to the scene.
“The collision involved a car. Firefighters used specialized equipment to remove a man from the car.
“He was then taken to hospital by the North West Ambulance Service (NWAS). GMFRS teams attended for one hour and 15 minutes.”
