A man dies after being found set on fire in West London Park

An investigation has been opened after the death of a man who was discovered in flames in a park in west London in the early hours of Monday morning.

The London Fire Brigade called police at 4.37am at Northolt’s Belvue Park.

No arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing, police said.

The death is being treated as a suspect and Detective Crime Command Detectives are leading the investigation into the discovery.

Officers are working to identify the dead man and inform his relatives.

An autopsy will be performed in the coming days.

London firefighters said they had been called to report a fire at 4.19am and the incident had ended at 4.56am

A fire truck from Northolt Fire Station attended the scene.

Detective Chief Inspector Claire Hine, the senior investigating officer, said: “This is a complex and quick investigation and we are working to reconstruct the events that caused this person to die.

“Our top priority at this stage is to identify the person involved so that their family can be informed. We are also conducting house-to-house consultations and reviewing CCTV to build a timeline of who was in the area at the time of the fire. “

Chief Superintendent Sean Wilson, head of local police in Ealing, said he was “surprised and saddened” by the discovery.

He added: “At this time there is no information to suggest that there is any broader risk as a result of this incident.”
