A man faces a second-degree homicide charge for homicide in Ajax

An 83-year-old man has died after being killed Monday afternoon in Ajax, according to Durham Regional Police.

Officers responded to a family dispute at a Griffiths Drive residence around 5:30 p.m.

Upon arrival, police said they discovered the victim with no signs of life and suffered significant trauma.

No further details were given about the incident.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene and police launched an investigation into the homicide.

Police said Tuesday morning that one person was arrested in connection with the case.

Ajax resident John Larter, 40, faces a second-degree murder charge.

“The suspect and the victim are known and police believe this is an isolated incident. Homicide and forensic investigators were called to the scene and are not looking for any more suspects,” police said in a statement. press release this Tuesday.
