A man was found dead in his home after a fire on Thursday, June 9, 2022.
A man has been found dead in a house after Nanaimo firefighters responded to a fire Thursday on Quill Drive.
It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post.
The fire was reported by a neighbor who was outside and heard a noise, he said.
“They determined it was the smoke alarm across the street,” Kenning said. “They went to investigate, noticed smoke inside and called 911.”
When the teams arrived, they were told that there was possibly someone inside the house.
“They came in and found a person in the living room in a hospital bed who had died,” Kenning said. The man, described as senior, had mobility issues, he said.
Nanaimo RCMP, BC Ambulance Service and BC Forensic Service were also at the scene.
