A man has died after being shot by Winnipeg police in the city’s North End.
Police said in a statement Friday evening that an officer had an “incident involving an officer” with the man at the intersection of Salter Street and Mountain Avenue around 4:15 p.m.
He was rushed to hospital where he died of his injuries, police said. They did not disclose his name or age or any details about the circumstances that led to the shooting.
Police said they have turned over the investigation to the Manitoba Independent Investigation Unit. The unit investigates all serious incidents involving police officers on or off duty in Manitoba.
