A man shot during a failed robbery at Penn’s Landing; the search for the shooter continues

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) – A man was shot in the shoulder Monday morning near Penn’s Landing, Philadelphia police said.

The shooting took place on the Chestnut Street Bridge, which led to the boardwalk on Columbus Boulevard, around 12:30 p.m.

Officers said the incident began when a woman dropped her cell phone while getting into a car with the male victim.

A group of teenagers nearby noticed the woman dropped the phone and tried to pick up the phone before the woman could pick it up, police said.

The woman first got the phone, but police said a suspect shot the woman several times.

The woman was not hit, but the driver was shot in the shoulder. Police said there was also a child inside the car, but the child was not injured.

Police said the woman took the man to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, but his condition was not known.

The suspects were last seen running from the scene.
