A woman was assaulted by a stranger while walking her dog Thursday afternoon, leading to the arrest of a Guelph man.
The woman was walking in the area of Woolwich Street and Suffolk Street East around 4:40 pm when a man carrying a hockey stick approached from behind and pushed her.
The victim did not suffer any physical injuries, according to a police statement.
Based on the victim’s description of the suspect, police officers believe they know the man’s identity. He was located in the city center shortly after 9 pm and arrested for assault.
A subsequent search revealed that he was in possession of another man’s identity documents.
A 25-year-old Guelph man is charged with assault, possession of identity documents and breach of probation.
