A man was shot dead by police after two were stabbed in NSW

Police have shot dead a man after responding to reports that two people had been stabbed off the south coast of NSW.

Officers arrived at a Nowra unit on Saturday afternoon after a triple-zero call reported an incident of domestic violence.

Police say officers were approached by a man armed with a knife and “when the man threatened police, an officer fired the gun.”

The man received cardiopulmonary resuscitation but could not be resuscitated.

Officers found on the property a woman with a stab wound to the neck and a man who had also been stabbed.

The woman was taken to St George’s Hospital in Sydney in serious but stable condition.

The injured man was taken to Shoalhaven Hospital in stable condition.

Police set up the crime scene in the unit and took a knife for forensic examination.

The shooting will be investigated by the Homicide Squad of the State Crimes Command and subject to an independent review.
