A video of a New Zealander cleaning a Melbourne Coles from a $ 3.50 grocery item has shocked Australians who had no idea it was “so good”.
A New Zealand man has revealed the unlikely grocery item only available in Coles that kiwis take home after traveling to Australia.
The man, who has the username @natnmj on TikTok, shared a video showing him cleaning the shelves of Coles Ultimate Chocolate Chip Cookies, entitled “POV: You’re Back in New Zealand.”
During the short video, the man can be seen loading a cart with boxes of the item into a Melbourne store, prompting many Australians to ask, “Why?”
Fortunately, the kiwis quickly showed up in secret, revealing the simple reason to buy the cookies in bulk.
“NZ doesn’t have Coles or Coles cookies and some people in New Zealand want them. So if someone goes to Australia they would always ask them to come back,” said one.
The brilliant video was quickly flooded with comments from fellow Kiwis who agreed to do the same.
“I literally helped my daughter do that when she left for Auckland last week,” one said.
“I am just dead. I work for an airline at the airport and almost everyone who returns to New Zealand has at least one suitcase full of them, ”another agreed.
While one woman said, “I always take 10 packs whenever I come back from Aussie, and then I ask the cuzzies to send me more.”
The video went viral quickly, recording hundreds of thousands of views, and even caught the attention of Coles, who responded by asking, “Did we have enough?”
A supermarket spokesperson told news.com.au: “We are thrilled to hear that our New Zealand residents love our award winning 40% Coles Ultimate triple chocolate chip cookies as much as we do.
“Packed with real chocolate chips, the decadently crunchy cookies are a cheeky snack perfect for everyone at home or abroad, and also a great value at just $ 3.50.”
Others agreed that the cookies were “the best.”
“I REALLY LIKE COLES COOKIES,” wrote one excited man.
“These are so good,” another agreed, while one said, “Don’t blame them.”
One stated, “The best cookies I’ve ever tasted.”
Not everyone thought cookies were worth sending home, claiming Coles’ snack was “overrated.”
“Ger, I don’t understand the exaggeration about them?” stated a.
“Bruh coles are highly overrated. I would have Tim Tams any day on these cookies,” said another.
Some Australians joked that they would not take the Coles cookies “for granted” again after watching the video.
