A young woman has died after an accident in the city center, Calgary police initially thought a pedestrian was involved, but it turned out that it was the passenger of the vehicle that had crashed.

At around 3:50 pm on Tuesday, the Calgary Police Service was called to 3 SW Street near 7th Avenue SW, to report a serious injury collision. The traffic section determined that the passenger, a 24-year-old woman, was thrown from the vehicle during the incident.

Police said a black Kia Soul operated by a 26-year-old man was stopped on the west side of the road facing south.

“The Kia reversed and turned north, crossing the road as it did so,” CPS said in a press release, adding that during the sudden movements, the 24-year-old passenger fell on the road. front passenger door and went running. next to the vehicle.

The driver was found unconscious at the scene and taken to hospital for medical treatment where he remains in serious condition.
