A Premier League footballer has been arrested in north London on suspicion of rape in what was reportedly a spectacular police attack at 3am.
The player, about 20 years old, cannot be named for legal reasons.
He was questioned Monday night in jail for an alleged attack that is said to have taken place late last month.
The footballer was said to have been questioned by detectives for at least 15 hours, according to The Sun.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed in a statement: “On July 4, a report of rape of a woman in her 20s was reported to the police.
“The alleged rape was reported to have taken place in June 2022. A man was arrested at a Barnet address on suspicion of rape and detained where he remains. Investigations into the circumstances are ongoing.”
Premier League clubs will be heading abroad on pre-season tours in the coming days, but it remains to be seen if the player in question will travel.
The top-flight season begins on August 5 and the player’s selection has also qualified for the World Cup, which begins in November in Qatar.
