Yvonne Lalda appeared in Darwin Local Court via a video link from prison, accused of a murder charge.
She is accused of killing a 26-year-old man during what police have called a domestic violence incident in the Palmerston suburb of Gray last Thursday night.
His lawyer, Joe Burke, did not file a bail application, but told the court his client was at risk of harm.
Judge Dick Wallace said the indictment was “very serious” and listed the case to return to court on Aug. 17.

In a statement, Northern Territory police alleged that a man was “assaulted with a cutting weapon” during an incident of domestic violence on Thursday night.
NT police said officers and paramedics were called to the Priest circuit around 8:10 p.m., but efforts to give first aid to the man were unsuccessful and he died at the scene.
Major sergeant major sergeant Paul Morrissey described the incident as “tragic” and urged anyone suffering domestic and family violence to seek help.
