Environment Canada says at least one tornado touched down in Manitoba Tuesday evening as a series of weather warnings and watches swept the province.
The first tornado watches were issued at 3:35 pm for the southern Interlake region, from Selkirk in the south to Kinonjeoshtegon First Nation in the north.
Environment Canada later confirmed that a tornado had touched down near Netley, Man., and was traveling east around 6:39 p.m.
“I expect the worst of this to gradually taper off into the evening after the cold front passes. Northwesterly winds will become very strong behind the front and remain strong through Wednesday morning,” CBC meteorologist reported News John Sauder in the early evening.
As of 10:30 p.m., all tornado and severe thunderstorm warnings have been lifted in the province.
