A woman arrested for entering Doug Ford’s campaign stop at Hamilton Airport

Hamilton police say they charged a 33-year-old woman with admission Thursday night following a protest against conservative progressive leader Doug Ford.

Police say a protest took place outside John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport and eventually moved to private property, blocking the road to a Cargojet facility.

Police said protesters were asked to withdraw from the road, but one did not comply and was arrested.

Lawyer Caryma Sa’d said she is the person who was arrested at the airport. She said she had a printed response with her for the Ford event.

“I was not part of any protest group,” Sa’d said in an interview. “I made it clear to everyone I spoke to, that I was attending the demonstration simply to document myself as an interested resident in Ontario.”

Police and Sa’d agree to move her out of the property and release her with a fine for entering the property. He said he intends to fight the ticket in court.

When she received a comment, Ford spokeswoman Ivana Yelich referred questions to the Hamilton Police Service.
