A woman dies after being hit by a bus in Cardiff’s Dumfries Place

A woman has died after being hit by a bus in central Cardiff on Saturday afternoon. Part of Dumfries Place was closed until Saturday afternoon due to the incident and people were told to avoid the area and find alternative routes.

The Sainsbury’s supermarket on the corner was also closed for a while. Police said that despite the best efforts of the public, ambulance staff and Heli-Med consultants, the 63-year-old woman from Adamsdown in Cardiff was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police Sergeant Craig Wood of the South Wales Police Highway Police Unit said: “We want to thank those members of the public who helped us at the scene and we would love to hear any person who witnessed the collision or may have a script … camera footage of the incident The road was cut off for several hours while we investigated the collision and I want to thank the motorists for their patience and understanding during this time “.
