A woman made the discovery of her life after taking home a set of sofas from Craigslist and finding more than $ 36,000 (£ 28,700) inside a pillow.

Vicky Umodu was looking for furniture in the online marketplace when she came across a free listing with two sofas and a matching chair.

“I said,‘ Maybe it’s a trick. Let me call them, “Ms Umodu of San Bernardino, California told ABC7.

But he knew it was a family that was getting rid of the belongings of a deceased relative.

She said, “I just moved and I don’t have anything at home. I was so excited, so we grabbed him and took him away.”

When he inspected the condition of the furniture at home, he noticed something strange: one of the pillows was very bulky.

Initially thinking it might be a thermal pad, Ms. Umodu unzipped the pillow and found a deposit of thousands of dollars in cash-filled envelopes.

She said, “I was just saying to my son, ‘Come on, come on, come on!’ I shouted, “That’s money! I have to call the boy!”

Instead of saving everything for herself, she returned the money immediately, saying, “God has been kind to me and my children. They are all alive and well. I have three beautiful grandchildren, so what can I ever ask for? bye?’

When the money was returned, the family told Ms. Umodu that there was money hidden all over the house.

As a thank you, they gave Ms. Umodu $ 2,200 to buy a new refrigerator, even though she “didn’t expect a penny.”
