A woman taken to hospital after being run over by a cyclist

A woman was airlifted to hospital after being run over by a cyclist on a busy road.

Merseyside police marched on the Washington parade in Bootle around 5:57 p.m., Thursday, June 16, following reports of an accident. Once at the scene, officers found a woman, believed to be in her 40s, who had been hit by a bicycle.

The Northwest Ambulance Service and the Northwest Air Ambulance Service were also called to the scene.

An air ambulance landed in North Park and took the woman to Aintree Hospital. The condition of the woman involved in the incident is not yet known.

The cyclist is believed to have stopped at the scene. Officers have cordoned off Washington Parade as they continue to investigate the incident.

Police patrol cars and matrix units are at the scene and are helping to divert drivers from the closed road.
