A cyclist has been left with life-threatening injuries after an altercation with a man who allegedly put her dog on her.
The victim, a 40-year-old woman, was taken to hospital with serious leg injuries following the incident in Lancaster on 5 May.
She told police she had been involved in an argument with a man who accused her of nearly hitting her son.
He had two brown bullmastiff or staffordshire bull terrier dogs and is said to have slapped one of the animals on the head, causing it to bite the woman’s upper leg and get stuck for a few minutes before it could be released.
The attack took place on a bike path behind the Priory Church, near the Millennium Bridge, according to police.
It happened shortly after the victim was forced to brake to avoid a woman and a child. The paramedics were called at around 4.20pm and treated the woman for the wounds.

PC Richard Hannaford of Morecambe Police said: “This incident has left the victim with a very serious injury.
“As part of our ongoing inquiries, we need to identify and talk to the man walking the dogs. I urge anyone who knows who he is, or the man himself, to contact the police as soon as possible. possible.
“Likewise, I would ask any witness or anyone with CCTV, dashboard camera or cell phone pictures who can help our investigation to get in touch.”
The woman, from Morecambe, was taken to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary and has since been discharged. There were no arrests.
The dog owner is described as white, 5 feet 9 inches to 5 feet 10 inches, thin, with short brown hair on the back and sides. He is believed to have been 30 years old and was not wearing a T-shirt.
