The son of a cyclist killed after being hit by a car in the suburb of Brighton Bay says his father is consistent and talkative, but is in “absolute agony.”
Kevin Hall was on his way around 6 a.m. Saturday morning when he was hit from behind on St Kilda Street, near Chatsworth Avenue.
Cyclist Kevin Hall was left with serious injuries, including broken orbits and cerebral hemorrhage.
The 69-year-old had made his way to his local cycling club. Its Strava cycling app recorded the last moves before the point of impact.
The driver of the vehicle fled the scene, and Hall was found unconscious in the ditch by another cyclist, who called triple zero.
The grandfather was rushed to Alfred Hospital with serious injuries, including a broken orbit and vertebrae, a broken shoulder blade and collarbone, and bleeding in the brain.
Hall’s son, Gavan, said the family had picked up CCTV from nearby buildings to try to identify the driver. They have no idea how long he had been unconscious before he was found.
Kevin Hall’s family does not know how long he was unconscious before he was found.
“If you had a heart, you would obviously leave,” he said Monday. “What kind of pathetic human being would do that to another human?”
Gavan Hall said his father usually did hundreds of miles each week. This was his first major accident.
